Florida Statute §553.842 prohibits marketing window film as hurricane or impact protection, because film is not an approved impact-protection product under the Florida Building Code. Anyone telling you film will satisfy hurricane code — or "protect your windows in a storm" — is breaking the law. Walk away, because if they'll bend that, they'll bend anything.
Here's the honest division of labor: security film is for break-ins, accidents, and holding broken glass together. Impact-rated glass and shutters are for storms. Do both jobs with the right tool and your building is covered — we'll only ever sell you the one we actually do.
